What’s in Your E-bike Emergency Kit?

16 September, 2015, 1 Comment, on Electric Bikes

Our electric bikes are known for their reliability and quality construction, but it is always best to be prepared in case of a roadside emergency. The contents of your e-bike emergency kit may depend on where you do most of your riding. For example, if you stick to urban riding, you may simply want to have a cell phone and taxi fare close at hand. If you need to be able to complete emergency repairs, you will want to put together a more robust kit to avoid being stranded.

Problems with your motor or electrical system will not necessarily stop you in your tracks, because your e-bike can easily be ridden as a traditional bicycle. Depending upon how far you have to go to reach your destination, you may want to simply ride your bike to a better location for completing your repairs.

Your electric bike also comes equipped with a warranty that covers your electrical system and workmanship of the e-bike. Especially if you are not skilled in making these repairs, you may wish to get your e-bike to your dealer’s service department rather than tackling repairs yourself. Even if repairs are not under warranty, you can rest assured that quality work will be performed by skilled professionals if you choose this option for your electric bike repairs.

However, if you have to make repairs in an emergency or enjoy fixing your electric bike yourself, having a well stocked emergency kit stowed on your e-bike is essential. Use this comprehensive checklist to create an emergency kit that will serve you well when you are out on your e-bike trips.

Basic Tools:

  • Wrench
  • Grease
  • Rain poncho
  • Zip ties
  • Knife
  • Multitool
  • Flashlight

Each cyclist should customize their emergency repair kit to include the items that they will need to perform the repairs without help close at hand. What do you carry in your e-bike emergency kit?
